The island nation off the coast of the African continent, in the southwest Indian Ocean came up trumps over the Bahamas and Cyprus in this year’s long-haul travel poll conducted annually by the Mediazone Group, publishers of Hong Kong's leading business annual titled Hong Kong’s Most Valuable Companies.
Making the announcement, the editor in chief of Hong Kong’s Most Valuable Companies, Edward Chung cited the island’s history, climate, and diverse tourism attractions as key reasons why Hong Kong’s discerning tourists picked Mauritius.
“High net-worth Hong Kong tourists obviously view Mauritius as a true value-for-money destination that affords a rich tapestry of entertainment, heritage, world-class cuisine and imaginative tourism attractions. It is therefore, not a total surprise that in the long-haul category Mauritius has emerged as a true ace.”
He revealed that Mauritius secured 613 votes while the Bahamas stepped in at 429, followed by Cyprus who made the mark at 302 in the electronic poll published at www.mediazone.com.hk from January 1st to April 30th this year.
